AMA Consultants 2000 provide management and consultancy services to housing and other “not for profit” organisations working in the social sector in Scotland.

The company was formed by Sheila Arthur. Backed by over twenty years experience in housing and the social sector, Sheila is at the forefront of the work of AMA Consultants 2000.

Sheila has worked for over 25 years in a variety of positions in the public and social sector and for private organisations. She has a BA in Sociology with Psychology from Stirling University and a Diploma in Housing Studies from Glasgow University. She is committed to updating her knowledge through training on specific issues.

She has expertise in housing development, working for both community-based housing associations and a large local authority, at senior level and as a consultant. From 1995-2000, Sheila was the director of a community-based housing association in the west of Scotland. She now heads AMA Consultants 2000.

Sheila has always been committed to the vision of quality housing services that improve peoples’ lives. She sees poor quality housing as part of a series of inter-linking issues that affect peoples’ health and the fabric of local communities. In neighbourhoods affected by poverty, partnership working is essential, and the involvement of residents in any area regeneration initiatives is vital. Sheila has therefore developed transferable skills in the field of small organisation development, policy development, human resources, urban regeneration, tenant participation and training.

Her experience and commitment extends beyond paid employment. Sheila is a Director of Positive Action in Housing, is active in the Glasgow Campaign to Welcome Refugees and assists the Glasgow Refugees’ Action Group. She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

How we work

Who we are

We offer services in all aspects of the social housing field, particularly in community-driven projects. We have a strong understanding of the need for inclusive strategies for successful regeneration. Our work has now extended into programmes and projects in relation to refugees and asylum seekers in the West of Scotland.

AMA Consultants 2000 works with a number of associate consultants, some of whom are refugees. Our consultants have skills and extensive experience in housing, community development, research and analysis, fundraising, training, and black and minority ethnic issues.

Our work ethos encourages the sharing of skills and information to empower those working on a project to ensure that everyone can contribute and work effectively.

We also have an advisory panel to assist strategy development on cross-cultural issues to ensure our work is as relevant as possible.

AMA Consultants 2000 can assist in a wide variety of ways. The following pages give further information about how we can help your organisation.
